Assay Development and Immunology

Location: Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA, USA | Full time


  • Hands on experimental scientist to apply in vitro assays to study the mechanisms of microbiome-host interactions

  • The successful candidate will help establish the assay development group; and be responsible for conducting a variety of immunological and cell-based assays to assess signaling pathways and cell viability

  • Apply expertise in techniques including:

    • Bacterial culture

    • Fluorescent enzyme activity assays

    • Mammalian cell culture (human cell culture, 3D culture, organoids)

    • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA)

    • Flow cytometry

  • Plan experiments, collect data, analyze and interpret datasets, prepare reports and presentations

  • Manage activities with collaborators and/or contract research organizations

  • Evaluate cutting-edge technologies for novel assay development

  • Exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills while working within a team of scientists in an environment with an emphasis on collaborative teamwork


  • A PhD in immunology, cell biology, microbiology, or a related biological sciences degree; or MSc degree with 4+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry

  • A meticulous, innovative, and self-motivated scientist with a strong desire to implement a revolutionary drug discovery platform for accelerating identification of novel therapeutic candidates across various therapeutic indications

  • Experience with design and application of immunology/cell biology and microbiology assays for screening and characterization of host-microbial interactions

  • Preferable if also have some experience with natural product drug discovery, protein purification and Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, in vivo disease models

  • Proven ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate cross-functionally

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
