Scientist | Microbiology

Location: Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA, USA | Full time


  • The successful candidate with broad hand-on experience in multiple aspects of microbiology to support the drug discovery for various indications including anti-infectives

  • Responsible for genetic manipulation and DNA cloning, microbial transformation, gene knockout, fermentation optimization, mechanism of action study, process development for generating & evaluating microbial products

  • Initiate internal collaborations and manage contract research organizations

  • Plan experiments, collect, analyze and interpret datasets, prepare reports & presentations​

  • Evaluate and propose cutting-edge technologies

  • Provide scientific input in wide range of research projects


  • PhD with 4-year experience (preferably with postdoc and/or industrial experience) in microbiology and/or cell biology

  • An innovative, and self-motivated scientist with a strong desire to identify novel Microbiome-derived therapeutics for various therapeutic indications

  • Familiar with molecular cloning and genome manipulation, and in vitro & in vivo models for evaluating antibacterials and other bioactive compounds

  • Experience in microbiome, infectious diseases with broad knowledge and interest in other human diseases

  • Comfort with ambiguity and complexity required; open to change and learn, and able to work across multiple therapeutic areas in a matrixed company

  • Champion for innovative ideas. Sense of humor a must
